Leonard Development HVAC Review

Mechanical & Electrical Contractors

The primary objective of this engagement with Leonard Development Group for the project sites located at 1907- 1909 34th Ave SE and 3400 19th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta, is to provide a comprehensive review and commentary on the existing HVAC plans, which have been flagged for deficiencies by the City of Calgary. Our expert analysis will focus on the existing proposed ventilation system using HRVs (Heat Recovery Ventilators). We aim to offer specific, actionable recommendations and comments that will aid in addressing the city's concerns and streamline the building permit approval process.

The project involves the redevelopment of an existing site, which includes two residential buildings and a proposed new three-story building framed in wood at 3400 19th Street SW. Currently, the project is in the building permit stage and has recently received a letter from the City of Calgary outlining deficiencies in the submitted HVAC plans.

Scope of Work:

  • The HVAC system: Design Review is to conduct a single review cycle featuring red-line mark-ups on the existing HVAC design that utilizes the client's proposed HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) system.
  • Documentation & Coordination: Create a PDF containing red-line mark-ups and commentary.
  • Collaborate with key project stakeholders such to ensure alignment and understanding of the comments.
  • Ensure that all comments and mark-ups are in alignment with established HVAC design best practices and requirements established by NBC-2019 AE edition. Address any deficiencies as per the City of Calgary's review feedback.
